Walworth County is underlain by Ordovician to Silurian sedimentary rocks, largely carbonates, that dip gently east off the Wisconsin Arch. The area is covered by drift. Excellent continental glacial landforms are particularly well-developed as seen along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The drift can yield some interesting minerals.
