Ancient tin and pyrite mining area. The deposit consists of lenses and seam-like tin (cassiterite) and sulphide orebodies, which are associated with quartzite and quartz-phyllite inclusions in schists overlying the Aue and Auerhammer granites. In addition, the area is traversed by a swarm of roughly NW-trending, tin-bearing veins.

This small district includes the mines on the slopes of Eichert and Heidelsberg hills, as well as on the north slope of the Habichtsleithe, a hill located between Aue and Bockau (mines on its south slope belong to the Bockau mining district). Mining in the area started around 1660 and ceased in 1860.
