An iron mine owned by Dofasco. Operated from 1967 until 1990; it had a 1.1 million tons/year capacity.

An Archaen Algoma Fe type deposit that consisted of banded iron formation (BIF).
The Sherman Mine was owned and operated by Dofassco/Cliffs of Canada from 1968-1990.
The deposits are within the bands of Keewatin iron formation thought to be within the archean "Abitibi Greenstone Belt" with an approximate age of 2.2 billion years. The iron formations are a total of 76 meters wide and 600 meters strike length. The bands are composed of well banded light to dark grey magnetite and dark green meta-chert with local red jaspillitic bands. The pyritic nodules were noted in graphite beds associated with the iron formation.
The mine name was derived from a well known pioneer of the Canadian steel industry Frank Albert Sherman(1887-1967)
