Djebel Ech Cheid (Djebel Ech Chehid; Jabal ash Shahid), Testour, Gouvernorat de Béja, Tunisie

Salt diapiric area with Triassic evaporite-bearing folds and several natural oil seeps of the Mouelha Formation, Lower Cretacreous-Late Albian era, situated 20 km southwest of Testour between the ancient Roman city of Dougga and Qa Afur.

Doubly terminated black quartz crystals up to 30 mm can be found in layered greyish anhydrite of evaporitic origin. These crystals with prismatic habit have been coloured by the presence of hydrocarbon inclusions and are similar to quartz specimens from Monte Rosso, Reggio Emilia Province, Italy.
