Gold-bearing quartz vein systems. Host rocks are metamorphic sandstones and micaceous schists (of the so-called Slate Belt).
The mine was developed in the 1950s.
Located at an altitude of 2400 m asl, North-west of Pingfengshan Mountain and South of the Liwu River.
The mining operations in the Hehuanshan and Pingfengshan gold mining districts were not permitted to continue operation due to the restraints of environmental protection conditions as these mining districts are located close to the Tailuko National Park.
