The Jinkeng Sn-Cu polymetallic deposit in South China consists of two different types of orebodies: 1) NE-striking skarn- and vein-type Cu-Pb-Zn-Sn orebodies in volcanic rocks suffering subsequent ductile shear deformation, and 2) NW-striking quartz-cassiterite-sulfide veins filled in the faults at the porphyritic granodiorite outward from the fine-grained granite which does not exhibit deformation. The mining area is mainly covered by the volcanic rocks of the Upper Jurassic Gaojiping Formation, including tuff, dacite and rhyolite. The exposed intrusive rocks are mainly porphyritic granodiorite, medium to coarse-grained granite and the fine-grained granite.
The Jinkeng deposit mainly consists of two ore sections, Mashan and Kongjiao. The Mashan ore section contains more than 30 ore veins with NE-striking of 15°–40°, with a prove reserve of 65,000 tons of Cu with an average grade of 1.0 %, 7,200 tons of Pb with a grade of 0.3 %, 38,000 tons of Zn with a grade of 0.9 % and 2,900 tons of Sn with a grade of 0.15 %. In the Kongjiao ore section, the main vein orebodies (V5–V8) mainly strike 295°–330° NW, dips 25°–60° NE with dip angle 45°–60°), hosted in the tensional faults within the porphyritic granodiorite in the outer contact zone of the fine-grained granite. The Kongjiao ore section contains a reserve of 4900 tons of Sn with a grade of 0.35 %, 45,800 tons of Cu with an average grade of 0.4 %, 19,300 tons of Pb with a grade of 1.5 %, and 109,500 tons of Zn with a grade of 3.5 %.
