Epithermal gold deposit.
The strata of the mining district are mainly composed of the Dajiahe, Dalingqiao, Dajiashan, Nandatashan, Muling, Datashanlinchang, and Sipingshan formations. The Dajiahe formation mainly consists of siliceous rock interbedded with slate. The Dalingqiao Formation is mainly composed of silty slate and argillaceous siltstone interbedded with thinly bedded siliceous rock. The Dajiashan Formation essentially consists of siliceous conglomerates, slate, and lithic sandstone. The Nandatashan Formation is primarily composed of plagioclase rhyolite, dacite and breccia tuff. The Muling Formation is largely composed of silty mudstone and argillaceous siltstone. The Datashanlinchang and Sipingshan formations, which are important ore-hosting rocks in the mining area.
the Sipingshan gold deposit is composed of two ore blocks: Sipingshan in the west and Daiwanglazi in the east. Fifteen orebodies have been identified in the Sipingshan mine, 10 of which are low grade (1.0 ppm ≤ Au < 2.5 ppm) and the remainder of which are industrial grade (>2.5 ppm). All of these orebodies can be divided into three layers: the upper orebodies are hosted in the upper siliceous rock as nearly horizontal layers, the middle orebodies are hosted in the silica-cemented conglomerates, and the lower orebodies are hosted in the lower siliceous rock and strongly silicified rhyolite porphyry. All of the orebodies occur as beddings and gentle dips. Therefore, these orebodies are associated with siliceous rock, silica-cemented conglomerates, and strong silicified rhyolite porphyry. The ores are characterized by microcrystalline to cryptocrystalline, metasomatite-relict, euhedral to anhedral granular, colloform, and framboidal textures and laminated, banded, massive, mesh-vein, brecciated, and miarolitic structures.
Note:
Huang et al. (2010) provide a wrong grid reference for this deposit (about 150 km too far west).
