However, Cummingtonite is not found at its type locality due to cummingtonite's redefinition of the Amphibole subcommittee of the IMA, when amphibole names were arbitrarily redefined to avoid providing data for a new mineral name. Physical and chemical properties formarly ascribed to "cummingtonite" must be considered invalid and a new species description for cummingtonite, as now redefined, is necessary. |
