Joly Township, Parry Sound District, is located west of Strong Township and northwest of Butt Township, Nipissing District.

Very few if any mineral occurrences are recorded for this township.

Although it lacks historical references to mineral occurrences there is abundant mineralization occurring in this locality.

One of the main roads through the township on a due west heading is named Kent's Mill Road. Kent's mill is locally known as a historic place by locals and is frequently visited by locals for fishing and hunting enthusiasts.

The landscapes and geological features of this locality show numerous and abundant quaternary features.

One example is the Kent's Mill Road which in one place is running west along a recent quaternary riverbed. At this point you can make out the dimensions of a rapids that at one point flowed west towards Lake Bernard (Strong Twp).

Numerous deposits of mineralized and polished riverstone outcrop along side Kent's mill Road. Boulders, erratics and outcrops are numerous along Kent's Mill Road.

A road/trail heading southeast makes its way to the north west corner of Butt Twp, Nipissing District close to the west gate of Algonquin Park (Tim River/Magnetawan Lake Entrance).

This locality is considered to be just northwest of a place locals refer to as "Pevensy" (Pevensy Road, Roadcut) here on Mindat.

In the eastern part of Joly township the road in concessions IX and X leading east to the sawmills crosses flat sand, then follows an esker-like ridge at Paisley lake, and from there to the east boundary of the township passes through a region of hummocky drift with numerous undrained depressions representing dry kettles in a terminal moraine.
