Köppen climate type:
An iron mine located on the Vermilion Iron Range. Started 1882 and closed 1962. Owned by United States Steel Corp. to the end of operations. Started as 7 surface pits and ultimately went to 2,400 feet (738 meters) on the 27th. level.
Now a state park. Also hosts a neutrino detector. Tours hosted regularly, with one focusing on mining and geology, the other on the subterranean physics lab.
