Small pits for iron-ore (hematite) that was used at the nearby Bærum Verk furnace. The mines exploit mineralized hydrothermal veins belonging to the Bærum rift system and occurring mostly in the porphyries overlying Cambro-Silurian sediments exhibiting contact metamorphic alteration caused by a large plutonic intrusion below the sediments.
