This quarry is located within a large operating sand pit, and was originally named "Carrière Sablières de la Gatineau". It is now operated by the Lafarge Group.

The following description was taken from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources naturelles et de la faune) :

The rock being worked is a greyish-black, fine to medium-grained, and foliated (gneissic) calc-silicate, composed of plagioclase feldspar and quartz (60%), mafic minerals (pyroxene, amphibole, mica) (30%), and opaque minerals (10%).

This rock is cut by dykes and metric masses of medium to pegmatitic-grained, pinkish orange or whitish grey, granitic intrusive rock.

At its contact with this intrusive material, the calc-silicate rock has been metasomatized into a pyroxene and scapolite skarn containing pinkish-orange calcite. Locally, wollastonite has been observed.

At the lowest level of the quarry, a metric-sized shear zone can be seen, where the rock is highly fractured and hematized. Pyrite is present.
