Calcite Vein Dyke Deposit. Famous for Blue Apatite crystals. The roadcut is very friable and contains a simple mineralogy of white, coarse grained Calcite and blue Fluorapatite. There are no amphiboles, feldspar or other silicates so common in the Grenville Province marbles and vein-dykes.
Phil Belley (Mindat Message Board, February 18, 2019) has seen a similar type of deposit in the high-grade metamorphic terrain on Baffin Island. The blue fluorapatite-calcite bearing coarse-grained white marble occurred as isolated lenses within a tectonized marble sequence, possibly due to tectonic stress relief causing recrystallization. There is insufficient exposure at this locality to be certain but it appears that the two deposits of blue fluorapatite-white calcite may share a similar origin.
