The Geulhem quarry is an underground quarry from which block breakers used to extract marl from the ground. The quarry is located in Geulhem in the Dutch municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul. The quarry consists of an underground tunnel system of approximately 25 kilometers. Over the centuries, it has been used by people as a shelter at various times.
Every year, the Geulhem quarry and the rock houses are opened to the public at Christmas, with the underground spaces and passageways being attractively illuminated.
The Rock Houses of Geulhem are located approximately 150 meters to the north of the main entrance to the quarry. Further north is the double rock house of Geulhem. The Amor quarry is located approximately 260 meters northeast of the entrances to the Geulhem quarry. Above the quarry lies the Bergse Heide slope forest.
Well-known for its clearly visible K/T boundary.
