A copper mine, also worked for trace amounts of gold. Opened in 1870 on a quartz-iron oxide lode, in micaceous schist of the Carrackalinga Head Formation.
Worked numerous times until 1972.
The property, on which both this site and the South Kanappa mine are situated, now runs as a 4WD track and 'Bed and Breakfast' style eco-tourism establishment. Entry is only by appointment and payment of fees.
Collecting is not permitted, however, viewing of both mines is encouraged.
