In the Mining Journal of 23 April 1853, the formation of a company was proposed to work the Trevose silver-lead mine "on the barton of Trevose" where three lodes were claimed to exist. On 13 August of the same year, it was reported that an adit had been driven from the cliffs in the northern part of the sett and a shaft sunk to a depth of 33 fms below surface, but the mine never started to raise any ores.
The workings cannot now be located with certainty. There are old workings visible around Trevose Head, but they may be trials that are connected with the abandoned quarry in Stinking Cove.
