Giacimento di barite di Isallo, Isallo, Magliolo, Val Maremola, Provincia di Savona, Liguria, Italia

Abandoned baryte trench located in the vicinity of Isallo, exploiting one of the baryte deposits of the Monte Carmo tectonic unit (Ligurian Briançonnais). The baryte occurs as stratiform levels and compact bodies of saccharoidal baryte, predominantly whitish in colour, locally showing faint bluish hues. The baryte is hosted within the San Pietro dei Monti Dolomites, dated to the Anisian–Ladinian (Middle Triassic).

Čechite is commonly observed within the baryte as black millimetre- to centimetre-sized masses, frequently associated with calderónite. Centimetre-scale yellow-green stains correspond to mottramite, which locally forms well-developed crystals on fracture surfaces of grey dolomite. Vanadinite is less abundant and typically occurs as clusters of very pale yellow prismatic crystals on grey dolomite fracture faces or cavities in the saccharoidal baryte; more rarely, vanadinite exhibits a mottramite core. Roscoelite occurs as brown submillimetric crystals included within the saccharoidal baryte; it is abundant particularly in proximity to other vanadiferous phases.
