Amethyst, quartz and chalcedony in amygdales and geodes of the Cambrian Antrim Plateau Volcanics. O
The Antrim Plateau Volcanics outcrops extensively across the east Kimberley, and extends into the Northern Territory covering at least
35 000 square kilometres. It is predominantly composed of tholeiitic basalt, to 1000 metres thickness, and has endured very little tectonic disturbances. The massive basalt lava flows contain brecciated flow tops, and can also contain sandstone, conglomerate, siltstone and chert.
Fetherston notes prehnite at Flora valley.
Prehnite occurs in amygdales or veins and also is found as scattered nodules on the surface.
