Köppen climate type:
These kimberlite pipes are 80 kilometres east south-east of Kalumburu, in the King George River region of the northern Kimberley. The area is extremely remote and there is virtually no viable land based access.
The reference notes three kimberlite pipes called Seppelt 1, 2 and 5. Seppelt 1 consists of two lobes , 100 metres apart, with diamond grades averaging 38.7 ct/ht.
Seppelt 2 is 5 kilometres south-west of 1. The pipe contains an upper 36 metre infill gravels of 50 ct/ht average diamond grade. Under this is weathered kimberlite to 200 metres from the surface with an average 211 ct/ht diamond grade. Several large diamonds are said to have been recovered including a clear white gem quality 8.5 ct stone.
The reference does not locate Seppelt 5. It is a brecciated kimberlite fissure, 750 metres long by 1.4 metres average wide. The yield was 15 ct from 70 t of ore sampled, with the largest stone at 1.1 ct. No mining has taken place at the locations.
