Köppen climate type:
Located 90 kilometres west north-west of Fitzroy crossing, the field covers 50 square kilometres, with the Great Northern Highway cutting through it. Minor amounts of diamonds have been found. The field comprises a small group of lamproite intrusions, within a few kilometres of the homestead. All but one is concealed by overburden.
The largest pipe is called Calwynyardah 1 covering 124 Ha, of almost entirely pyroclastic material, intruded by thin lamproite sills, and small plugs. Despite extensive bulk sampling of this intrusion, it yielded only one small diamond and 34 microdiamonds.
The field contains seven leucite lamproite vents. Together with nearby Laymans Bore East, they contain the only known crater lake deposits of epiclastic tuff, interbedded with a thin lignite horizon, the source states. Most of the sites are pyroclastic filled, and only a few have magmatic sills, and small plugs.
