The Sougounikoura diggings are relatively recent, producing only since early 2012, although it is possible that they produced in earlier years, but the output was designated as coming from the Baga Diggings. The diggings are between the villages of Bagame and Diako. The east-west trend of diggings between Bagame and the Bendougou-Diako road has generally been known as the Baga Diggings, but a new market has been established in the area and has given its name to the nearby diggings.
