Fazenda Bonfim, Caiçara do Rio do Vento, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil
An emerald deposit on Bonfim farm (Fazenda Bonfim) is located in the border of Caiçara do Rio do Vento, São Tomé and Lajes municipalities.
Emerald crystals occur at the contact zone between Be-rich albitized granitic body and ultrabasic rocks, mainly enclosed in irregular lens-shaped of phlogopite schist (phlogopite hornfels). In this place, emeralds typically consist of short crystals with concentric growth zones ranging from light to medium-dark bluish green.
Note be confused with the Bonfim mine.
