Köppen climate type:
Presently (2013) the most south-western phosphate mining operation by SNTP (Société Nouvelle des Phosphates du Togo).
The entire known sedimentary phosphate deposit operated by SNTP is 35 km long and up to 2.5 km wide.
The phosphate-rich layer is on average 4-6 m thick.
Certain layers are rich in Tertiary shark teeth and gastropods.
The phosphate layer is underlain by an attapulgite/palygorskite and Ca-bentonite rich layer which reaches thicknesses of up to 25 m.
