Enstatite Chondrite, impact-melted [EH3/4-an; S4-5]
Fall of 1952, 28 g, unweathered

The Galim (b) meteorite is a small fragment which broke apart from the larger Galim (a) LL6 meteorite during a 1952 meteorite shower. In other words, two meteoroids collided in space and stuck together as a single object, only to be separated again when the welded pair encountered the earth. Cosmic Ray exposure ages suggest this happened in the past 100,000 years. The Galim (b) Enstatite-rich fragment is considered a separate meteorite as it has a separate mineralogical identity.

Galim (b) is classified as an EH3/4 because of its overall chemical nature with its dominant Enstatite-rich lithology (including chondrules) plus accessory Fe-Ni metal and troilite. To be sure, Galim (b) does not contain the full complement of minerals usually found in larger and less shocked Enstatite Chondrites. Arguably, this is the result of small size sampling issues coupled to selective losses from impact melting.
