Deshaies is one of the most famous resorts in Guadeloupe with its long Grande Anse beautiful beach with brown sand whereas most beaches in Basse-Terre are of black volcanic sand. Grande Anse beach ends with dominating mount Gros Morne (206 m) at south. From there one can easily view Montserrat Island at the horizon and closer the small Ilet à Kahouane.
