It is noted in the literature from around 1896, mined by Claxton and Rawson, said to be young miners from the Gippsland in Victoria. The reefs struck north-south. Other mine sites nearby on the same reef include City of Melbourne North, Dollar, Mystery, Champion, May Queen amongst others. They were all small operations with little evidence today of their presence. Gold was said to be on the surface as an 18 inch vein, but increased to 4 feet wide at the water level 66 feet below the surface. The mine was obtaining 1 to 2 oz per tonne. The mine was sold to London interests in 1896, and no more is heard until the mid 1930's.

It is worked by McCafferty and party in 1935, then from 1936 to 1940 by K.C. Taylor-Vernon. A
five head battery is reported to have been erected but the information is unclear, as during the same period crushings from the mine were going through the Yalgoo state battery. During this last mining period, 700 ounces was won from 1700 tonnes of ore.

Nothing remains at the site apart from a shaft and a couple of trenches. The site is 10 kilometres north of Yalgoo, and 200 metres west of main road.
