Lewis Pope was granted GML 584 at 6 acres in May 1909. Johnston (surname) is also noted as an owner. Considering the name of the mine, it is clear Lewis Pope had a great sense of humour.

Crushing information was found however the year before under L. Pope's name at 11 tonnes for 12 ounces at 7 dwt per tonne. A crushing occurred in 1909 at 31.50 tonnes for 11.40 ounces, and in 1910 it was 9 tonnes at 2.52 ounces. There were two crushings in 1913 at 7 dwt and 29 dwt. The only geology information found was the mine contained a reef 15 inches wide.
