Kankin, Lac Xuan
Kankin is a little village near Lac Xuan, Don Duong Province, located in the valley downstream of the Ho Don Duong dam, about 40Km southeast of Da Lat.
The valley is along the contact between the Cretaceous Don Duong Formation (a volcanogenic/sedimentary complex mainly made of dacite-rhyodacite-rhyolite-andesitodacite alternated with pyroclastic sediments) and the Jurassic Dinh Quanh Complex composed mainly of biotite-hornblende granite.
Quaternary olivine basalts of the Xuan Loc Formation are also outcropping along the valley, at the Kankin site columnar olivine basalt is quarried for construction purposes. Several outcrops along the valley with columnar basalts are quarried as well.
