A quarry in Archaean granite and dolerite in the Darling Range, near the now defunct Zigzag Railway. The quarry was established by Thomas Statham and William Burton in 1894 and operated by them until Statham's death in 1920. The Perth City Council operated the quarry following Statham's death and material from the quarry was used to as street paving in Perth during the early 1900s.The rocks for the groyne at City Beach also came from the quarry. The quarry was serviced by the Kalamunda Zig Zag section of the Upper Darling Range Railway during the time of its operation (which closed in 1949), and was finally put out of operation by a bushfire in 1957.
Simpson (1948) described molybdenite in the form of a thin piece measuring 1.5 x 0.75 inches from a pegmatite in the quarry, and pinkish-buff stilbite in the form of lenses 0.5-2.5cm thick associated with calcite on the chlorite-coated surface of a dolerite dyke. The stilbite was coarsely crystalline and in radiating groups of crystals.
Minor crystalline pyrite occurs in quartz veins (B. Grguric).
