Locality is marked by a sign ("shown as Boston & New York Placer") along Park County Rd 8, near dredge tailings along Buckskin Creek, where remains of a dredge are visible. (This may not be the original name of the placer deposit on Buckskin Creek, if it ever had a single name.) The site is downstream from the prolific Paris and Hungry Five gold mines on the north and south side (respectively) of the valley of Buckskin Creek and the site of Paris Mill, and upstream from the site of the former town of Buckskin Joe. The placer gold discovered here in 1859 was the first sign that the Alma District might contain lode deposits of gold. The locality is provided here for the town site of Buckskin Joe on USGS topographic map, just east of the tailings piles. This deposit is not the same as Alma Placer (Alma Placer & Leaching Plant), which is in the valley of Middle Fork, South Platte River and directly across the river from the town of Alma.
