The original name for the lease according to one source was Havelock, but no more information was found. It was then known as Queenslander or Queenslander's, and in 1891 as Uphill's. In this year a small battery had been erected, two men employed, and 100 tonnes extracted at only 0.5 ounces to the tonne. 6 acres. It was shortly after purchased by the neighbouring Parker Range Co. Soon after this it was abandoned for greater riches at the Coolgardie goldfield.
In 1932, T. R. Bennett, a young inexperienced miner re-opened the mine, with assistance from an old experienced prospector in the area called Cairns. 14 tonnes was mined for 21 ounces at 30 dwt.
Bennett named the lease Thirteenth.
Mine maps locate the old workings about 100 metres south-west of the Marvel Loch-Forrestania and Parker Range roads intersection. However, several old workings are in the area of other named leases largely unworked for over one hundred years, so this is only a rough indication of its location.
