Birrigrin was a small group of gold mines active from 1905 to 1910, about 15 kilometres south of the Montague group of mines. Alternatively it is half-way between the Montague Range and the Lake Mason salt-pan. on or near the Sandstone-Wiluna Road.

It can refer to a small settlement which established during the active mining days, consisting of a few shops and Buzza's hotel. Or it can refer to Spencer and Thompson's five head battery at or near the same location. This was subsidized by the government to crush for local prospectors both at Montague and Birrigrin.

Finally it can refer to a short lived entity called the Birrigrin Gold Mines Ltd , who took over four leases known at the time as the Birrigrin Mines. These were however named independently prior to takeover, one for example called the Hawthorne lease. The company was floated by H.J. Saunders, with Scot Neil Calder as mine manager, and Arthur Taylor as engineer. The source swoons over the experienced team assembled, and prospects of huge success for the lucky shareholders who had invested their life savings.

The company was floated in mid 1907 with 100 000 pounds capital asked for, but only 12 000 pounds obtained from shareholders. The company was in liquidation within a year.
