The New Holland and Genesis Gold Mines are 5 kilometres north-west of the Agnew Hotel, and just south of the Leinster-Sandstone Road, at the northern end of the goldfield. The northern pit is Genesis and southern New Holland, but underground mining accesses the same lode.

Genesis was discovered in 1990, and the New Holland pit began operations in 1991, then underground in 1998. The mine accesses the Genesis 500 and Sheba Lodes.

The New Holland name is historic for a gold mine at the location, pegged in the late 1890's. Little was found, but 4774 tonnes of ore for 2354 ounces would indicate reasonably substantial mining from the late 1890's to 1910.

Gold is hosted by the Scotty Creek sandstone, which is coarse but gets finer higher up. It is in sharp contact with fine grained greenstone on the eastern Footwall of the Emu Shear Zone.

There are two phases of mineralisation. (1) gold associated with north trending sinistral normal shear under north-west to south-east shortening. (2) Well developed veins and thrusts under east north-east to west south-west shortening. Coarse sandstone lenses have a strong control over vein development. Both alteration assemblages contain quartz-calcite-actinolite-biotite-albite-and sulphides, with arsenopyrite dominant over chalcopyrite and galena.
