The location of the Crows Nest is said to be 2.5 miles north of the Glengarry mine. GML 576R. (277B)

The State Engineer after visiting in 1902 stated the mine was active but not a lot of ore was available above the water line having been all stoped out. The principal reef had been worked for a length of 1000 feet, and to a depth of 70 feet. The reef was lenticular in character, but averaged 12 inches wide but at points could be up to 8 feet wide.

Young and party were at the mine in 1907. Another State Engineer visit at the time stated there was a shaft at the northern boundary of the lease down to 30 feet on a reef 3feet 6 inches wide. A nearby shaft 80 feet away was down to 50 feet with stone stoped to the surface. Drives were 120 feet long, with 160 tonnes of quartz at grass, some of which was showing gold freely. There had also been a lot of development work on a reef near the south-west boundary of the lease.

They also controlled the adjoining 277B lease. This had a shaft on a reef 2 feet 6 inches wide. Parallel to this reef 470 feet to the east was another bold outcrop 3 feet 6 inches wide over a considerable distance, but no work had been undertaken on it.
