The Mexico gold mine (24 acres) was worked and owned by a syndicate of eight miners from 1897. It had the first battery (5 heads) erected in Western Australia, by miners developing their own gold mine. Cyanide vats were also installed. John Brideson was mine manager. In 1898 they took over the Fair Adelaide leases several kilometres to the east to obtain water for the battery. The shaft was down to 200 feet on a reef 5 feet wide.

Its noted in 1902, the mine is owned by French and party, and had amalgamated with the Mexico Extended lease, and the four Fair Adelaide owned leases. No more was found beyond this date. At some point in recent decades a small trial pit was dug at the location.

As the New Mexico, A.J. Boromini put through some crushings around 1947.

The mine is approximately 10 kilometres south of Siberia, and two kilometres west of the Davyhurst-Ora Banda Road.
