The 10.5 km diameter Bosumtwi meteorite impact crater was formed approximately 1.07 million years ago (Pleistocene period) and is the best-preserved complex young impact structure known on Earth. It is believed to be the source crater of the Ivory Coast tektites strewn field (see ivorite).
