Köppen climate type:
Reginald and Heather Snelling were former owners of the Carranya Station, and drew attention in 1988, to scientists of an impact crater. The crater was subsequently named after them. Recent pictures seen would indicate the homestead is abandoned.
The crater is approximately 15 kilometres south of the homestead, in flat land, surrounded by sparse woodland, near the normally dry Wolfe Creek. The crater is about 5000 years old, and no meteorite fragments have been found. As a shallow depression 29 metres wide, it is difficult to locate to say the least. Many have tried and failed. Please remember the area is remote, arid with little water, and there is no help nearby.
Map- only shows the general area the crater is found. A source states co-ordinates are (-)19.24, 127.46, and this has been used. However... more digits are needed, and on the ground confirmation would be useful. The above co-ordinates border the Wolfe Creek but north-west of the homestead and does not match the written description.
