Range River Gold acquired an interest in the prospect in 2003 through the purchase of Opus Exploration Pty Ltd, then gained a 70% interest by 2004.

Mining began in April 2006, ceased December 2007, with remaining ore processed by October 2008, when the mine was placed on care and maintenance, having produced 30 000 ounces of gold.

It is 80 kilometres south-west of Port Hedland, and 10 kilometres south of the North West Coast Highway.

The processing plant was subsequently transferred to the Burnakura Goldfield, south of Meekatharra.
