Firetail North and South are iron ore mines operated by Fortescue Metals Group. The high grade ore is blended with their low grade ore from the Chitchester mines further east. The mines opened in May 2013, have an expected output of 20 Mtpa, and 20 year life span. The mines access the Brockman Iron Formation and detrital material. The combined resources for all the mines under the Solomon heading is 716 Mt.
