A Cu occurrence located WNW of Seymour, on private land. Discovered in 1970 by Stroud and others. Owned by the Lowrance Ranch (according to Stroud et al for sec. 5?), and by the Alexander Ranch (for sec. 3?). The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 250 meters.
Go W on Farm & Machinery Road (FM) 1756 for 2.5 miles from Texas highway 283 at Truscott. Turn N 0.4 mile, then W 3.1 miles. Turn S 1.6 miles to Alexander ranch headquarters. Go S on unimproved road for 1.5 miles. Turn W and NW for about 1.4 miles. Where the road turns W, walk about 2,500 feet NE.
Mineralization is Cu deposit hosted in dolomite of the Flowerpot Shale. The ore body strikes NNE and dips WNW at 30 feet per mile or less. The thickness is 0.13 meter. The ore body is an outcrop. Controls for ore emplacement included a reducing environment, stratigraphic, Sabkha. The Cu occurs in a 3-inch dolomite at the top in the Upper Flowerpot. It may be sporadic but probably occurs over a wide area. Associated rocks include the Middle to Late Permian Flowerpot Shale. Local rocks include rocks of the San Angelo Formation.
Regional geologic structures include the gentle dip WNW off Bend Arch.
Analytical data results: 0.07-1.60% Cu.
