An underground coal mine - mining Anthracite coal.

The drift mine was reopened in 1996 after being closed by British Coal in 1985. It is owned and worked by Energybuild, a private company now wholly owned by Walter Energy of the USA (as of April 2011).

Located in the Vale of Neath near Glynneath.

Minute crystals of carbonate-fluorapatite in a siderite-lined cavity in ironstone were verified by XRD at the Natural History Museum, London. This represents the first record of carbonate-fluorapatite in the south Wales coalfield.
