Las Trampas
Trampas (Spanish: "traps") is an unincorporated community that was founded in 1751.
Its historic center still reflects the original Spanish colonial defensive layout, and it is home to the 18th-century San José de Gracia Church, one of the best-preserved examples of Spanish Colonial ecclesiastical architecture in the United States. In 1967, the village center was designated the Las Trampas Historic District, a National Historic Landmark.
Set along the scenic High Road to Taos (New Mexico State Road 76) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Trampas sits roughly halfway between Santa Fe to the south and Taos to the north. The community stands at an elevation of about 2,147 meters (7,044 feet).
