Dannie Mine; Washington Chrome Mine

A chromium mine located near the head of the South Fork of the Nooksack River in a cliff about 800' above the valley floor. It worked lenses of chromite in the Twin sisters Dunite and produced 1.5 tons of ore for testing in 1934. It was operated by the Washington Chrome co. The ore contained 51% Cr2O3. Development consisted of an open cut.
Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc

Deposit: See also mrds record mp00127

Deposit type: Podiform chromite (minor)

Rock formation(s): Twin Sisters Dunite

Ore(s): Magmatic Segregation
