This mine is located above the north bank of Slate Creek near the confluence with the South Fork of Slate Creek. The geology is a vein in shear zone in quartzite of the Goat Creek formation. Development consisted of several short adits, an aerial tramway, and a stamp mill. It produced ore prior to 1940. A representative sample of vein material from the lower adit contained trace gold and 0.02 oz/ton Ag.
Structure: Fold And Thrust Belt Intruded By Magmatic Arc Plutons Bleached And Iron-Oxide Stained Shear

Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc

Deposit: 4 ft wide quartz-bearing shear zone containing flakes of malachite, and 9-18 in. Wide quartz vein goat claim is one of 12 contiguous unpatented claims known As the goat group. Some claims of present goat group are relocations of old claims and some are newer claims staked by NE W light gold mining co. In 1931 and 1935. ; info.src : 1 pub lit

Deposit type: Polymetallic veins

Development: In 1898, a 5-stamp cyanide mill was built on slate creek and an aerial tramway was extended 2000 ft from mine to mill.

Geology: Goat creek formation deposited As turbidity current and submarine fans

Rock formation(s): Goat Creek Formation
