The entrance track is 12 kilometres east of Old Halls Creek, the track heading north from Duncan Road. After two kilometres is a prospectors shack, which marks the Golden Crown Mine, then a further two kilometres past this is a fork in the track. The right fork heads to the Elvirie River reached after a further 6 kilometres. Around this area is the Twelve Mile workings, being largely an alluvial gold field, in such places as Saunders and Poverty gullies. The sites were worked by early prospectors for alluvial gold, and many nuggets have been found in these places in the past.
