Named after the upper reaches of the river it is sited next to. This is a remote location. It is about 20 kilometres south of Halls Creek as the crow flies but far further by road. The track to it appears to be an exploration bulldozer track, likely diabolical, and zig-zags wildly across the landscape.
Alluvial workings are at the site, and a hopper which fed an alluvial gold extraction trommel. There are remains of a wet plant next to a dam about one kilometre to the north.
Two maps were found. An on the ground inspection is needed as one states it borders the southern side of the river, the other the northern side. Doug Stone's map shows the dam mentioned above in the wrong location.
A written attempt will be made at describing access (be warned). Go to Old Halls Creek, and take the track south past the old Lady Broome and Jubilee gold mines. This track eventually begins to swing eastwards to Lake Monte Gordon. Just before this point a track diverges west then turns south-west. It arrives at an alluvial gold area called 44 Gallon Drum, much bulldozed, with exploration tracks going in several directions. Take the track south south-east (not south). This track turns eastwards, south, briefly east again.
This track continues to the White Elvirie River further down stream, with the dam mentioned above a few hundred metres to the west of the track about one kilometre north of the river. . At the point the track turns east the second time, an even fainter track continues south. About one kilometre before it reaches the White Elvirie River, take a track to the west for one kilometre to the mine site, or thereabouts. Do not attempt this unless with a 4 wheel drive, and are well prepared for emergencies.
