Historic lease. 2 acres. Active late 1880's. Grants Creek section, 10 kilometres east north-east of the Alice Downs homestead. Located near a small creek which flows into Grants Creek. The mine is hosted by clayey slate, often shaley, with beds of mica slate and calcite, trending north north-east, and dipping steeply west.
The reef consists of glassy dark blue or mottled quartz, 6 inches to one foot thick, well defined, north-east trending, dipping west. The source also states the reef is gossany and Fe stained, associated with a calcite vein. The site when inspected in 1891 contained a number of trenches and small shafts, down to 50 feet, filled with much fresh water to within 25 feet of the surface. The workings at this stage were in a state of disrepair. No trial crushings had taken place at the site by this stage.
