Dimension stone. Kimberley Pink is a marketing term for granitic gneiss, extremely smooth whaleback dome, trending north-west. The old dimension stone quarries are in the general area of Wombarella Creek, 135 to 140 kilometres east north-east of Derby, on granitic gneiss domes, as part of the Hooper Complex in the King Leopold Orogen.

Kimberley Pearl is a dome hosted by Kongorrow Granite, with the Kimberley Storm quarry just to the south, bordering the south side of the Gibb River Road. Kimberley Pearl covers 375 metres long by up to 100 metres wide, and the dome rises 40 metres above the surrounding plain.

It is medium grey megacrystic biotite hornblende syenogranite gneiss, which when polished gives off a pearlescent appearance.

The quarry was developed by Black Swan Quarries in 1989, and was operational for the next four years. Examples can be seen at the John Fairfax Headquarters Chullora Sydney, and the Nomura Securities Building Tokyo.

A legal dispute in 1992 put an end to mining here, with about one hundred blocks measuring 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 metres still abandoned at the site. Serenity Stone Pty Ltd took over the lease in 2004, but the site still remains on care and maintenance.
