Köppen climate type:
Located one kilometre north-west of the Quarry Camp Mindat locality. Developed by D. de Biasi from 1979 to 1985 as a site for black granite blocks. Mining took place in a 700 metre section at the north-west end of two north-west trending dolerite dykes, forming a rugged ridge up to 50 metres high.
A trench in the central part of the ridge extracted large rectangular blocks of granite. The northern dykes occupies the central spine of the ridge, while the southern dyke is narrower, and covered by the lower slopes of the ridge.
The material is fine grained black dolerite used in Japanese headstones and interior decoration. It is porphyritic dolerite with plagioclase phenocrysts, minor olivine, and sparse hornblende, actinolite, oxides and chlorite.
