Located 25 kilometres east south-east of the Maroonah pastoral station homestead. Sheila Bore is 1.3 kilometres to the south-east.
Here are three marble quarries, called West, East and a test pit called Central. Most marble blocks have come from the large East quarry. Small intermittent tonnages have been produced since 2001. It was first developed by Dodsley Pty Ltd, the marble marketed as Desert Green from 2001 to 2005. Operations were then taken over by Pilbara Stone Pty Ltd, the marble name changed to Pilbara Green.
The deposit contains a 7 metre overburden of basaltic tuff, then a layer of green marble, the deposit dipping 10 to 15 degrees north-west. Pilbara Green is dolomitic marble, pale to dark green in colour, extremely fine grained, with highly irregular swirling bands and patches caused by pale stromatolitic banding of deep green chlorite and serpentine, white calcite, and dark grey bands of oxides. The material takes a high polish.
Slabs were exported to Europe for internal wall and floor applications.
The site contains several substantial buildings relating to operations.
